Mothers Day is a Time of Celebration for Everyone

Mothers Day, ah … This special day for mothers everywhere conjures up thoughts of mothers celebrating all over the world; mothers spending time with their loved ones and mothers with wide eyed grins as they accept gifts from the expectant fingers of their little ones (or not so little ones!). The day to honor mothers in the United States was started by a woman named Julia Ward Howe after the end of the American Civil War. She began the day as a means to celebrate the joys of motherhood and as a way of expressing love and appreciation to all mothers everywhere. Let us stop and ask a question: is there celebration in your home when the special day set aside for moms rolls around? How do you plan to celebrate the motherly qualities of your incredible mother? While this special day in May is for the love of all mothers and is a day for remembrance and thankfulness to all moms, it is also a celebration for families in general. A mother is often the one who keeps everything together, the tie that binds everyone including your mother, together and makes for a close-knit unit. She may be mommy to you when you are little, and mom or mother as you get older but really what would we do without our dear mothers in our lives?

Mothers are so valuable and important that one has to wonder why we don't celebrate many Mothers Days throughout the year and not just one in May! What kind of celebration is worthy of your mother and indeed your whole family? Plan a motherly festivity for all of you by heading to the park, the fair, a favorite restaurant, the shopping mall or go visit the other special mother or mothers in your lives – the maternal and paternal grandmothers of course! You should of course remember all the mothers in your life who don't live near you. Celebrate those mothers with a phone call, a card, an e-mail message or even a bouquet of flowers to her door! Say "Happiness to You Mom!" and "I Love You Mom!" in the most celebratory way you know how!
